Split is an expense-splitting app. This page explains what data the app touches and what happens to it.
Everything you enter — group names, people, expenses, amounts, notes — is stored only on your own device (using local device storage). There is no account, no sign-up, and no server that your expense data is ever sent to. If you delete the app or clear its data, that data is gone — we don't have a copy of it anywhere.
Split shows ads through Google AdMob (in the app) and/or Google AdSense (on the website) to support free use of the app. These ad networks may collect and use technical data to select and measure ads, which can include:
This data collection is performed by Google, not by Split directly, and is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and, where applicable, AdMob's data disclosure. You can opt out of personalized advertising through your device's ad settings (Android: Settings → Privacy → Ads).
The Android app requests Internet access only — used to load fonts, the PDF export library, and ads. It does not request access to your contacts, camera, microphone, location, or files beyond the folder it saves your own exported PDFs to.
To help keep your financial data private, the app blocks screenshots and screen recording while it's open, and hides its content from the recent-apps switcher preview.
We do not sell or share your expense data with anyone. We don't have it to share — it never leaves your device in the first place.
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change too. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
